On the skin, superficial Candida skin infection looks like a red flat rash with wavy edges.
When men have a yeast infection on their penis, it looks like red, dry scaly patches on the head of the penis.
If an individual has an ineffective immune system due to stress, diabetes, AIDs, or chemotherapy treatment, they are at risk for not only Candida infections of the skin, but also other body systems. This can show up as a sensitivity to some foods including dairy products and gluten.
If a person with AIDS gets a Candida yeast infection it can be very serious. The infection can spread from oral thrush through the entire digestive system. This causes ulcers making it painful to eat or drink. In addition, the body is less able to absorb water and nutrients. Dehydration is a very real risk.
