Ever had a yeast infection? If so, it could have happened to you even if you are a man or woman. As you may know, though it may happen with men, vaginal yeast infections are the most common of them all. This topic is often the subject of much controversy, and much of that has to do with the fact that most people have no idea what they’re talking about. Yeast infections are actually caused by various strains of yeast. Since anyone can get this type of condition, it is a good idea to learn as much as you can about them so you will be ready when it occurs to you. It is usually not a good idea to try to treat a yeast infection yourself unless you know what you are doing.
Don’t be misled into thinking that a yeast infection isn’t important because, if you ignore it, you can fall prey to more serious illnesses. A lot of people don’t know that your brain is an area where you can develop a yeast infection. Some of the problems a yeast infection causes in your brain include headaches, irritability, and depression. This is just a short list. Don’t be alarmed, however; the above example is extreme and most yeast infections are less dangerous. One word to the wise, though. Don’t simply treat your yeast infection with over the counter medications, even if this is your first reaction. As an example, someone who is diabetic shouldn’t undertake self-medication if they suspect they have a yeast infection. The underlying reasons, such as a high blood glucose count, need to be monitored.
There are so many factors that contribute to yeast infections, but most people never imagine that their clothes could add to the problem. There is a much better chance of Candida spreading when wearing dirty underwear that is worn tighter than necessary, and made out of something other than cotton. The wrong underwear can give Candida a nice moist warm place to grow, and that is not a good idea, and easily prevented. If you get yeast infections, and also wear pantyhose, there could be a connection between the two, and you should be aware of it. Most people would never even think about blaming their yeast problems on the clothes they are wearing.
Yeast infections are caused by the Candida species of yeasts. The exact name is Candida albicans. What many people may not realize is our bodies are hosts to all types of bacteria and even the Candida yeast cells if only in very minor quantities. When your health is optimum, your immune system keeps the level of Candida albicans low enough so it doesn’t create problems. Sometimes a yeast infection will strike out of the blue and then you have to figure out how to eliminate it. Why you went from a normal level of Candida albicans to an overgrowth with no warning could have been caused by a variety of conditions. Even if you are able to quickly rid your body of the Candidiasis, that’s just the first step. More importantly, you should think about the reason behind it. At the very least, pay more attention to your daily habits.

The problems begin when it kills off all the bacteria, even the beneficial type whose job is to keep the Candida albicans yeast in check. There are many places in your body that have bacteria. This is normal and necessary to keep your body healthy. You will find beneficial bacteria in your stomach, on your skin, in your esophagus and mouth, as well as other places. One of the most common places to find naturally occurring good bacteria is the vagina. This should make it clear how taking antibiotics sometimes creates more problems than it solves for a woman. So, you could just resign yourself to the fact that if you must take a course of antibiotics then you will probably end up with a yeast infection.
One specific cause of yeast infections is due to skin damage to the vulva and membranes within the vagina. All of your body, there are certain areas where yeast cells will thrive. The body is naturally able to control yeast cell production which is why infections do not always occur. In this instance, if there is excessive friction in and around the vagina, then the tissue can become lightly damaged. The irritation to this area will inevitably lead to the infection itself. So it advisable to use a lubricant, but avoid those that contain petroleum based derivatives such as Vaseline, for example.
The negative results caused by chemical sensitivity is felt by more people than you would imagine. The number of possible problems is endless. We all like to use personal products that smell good but, sometimes, the addition of a scent to a product introduces allergens for certain people and they will end up with a bad reaction to the product. Yeast infections are one side effect that can occur. Sometimes the only way to find out which scented products you are allergic to is to use different products and see which one you react to. Scented toilet tissue is nice, but it is a prime example of the type of product that can cause this problem. Vaginitis can appear in a woman who is sensitive to the scents in this product after using it for a short time – sometimes just a matter of days.
