Male yeast infection symptoms are sometimes so subtle, or even undetected, that it’s not a surprise they are overlooked and even denied. While these infections are so obvious in women because symptoms can be detected even in the earliest stages, many men often go through life not knowing that they are infected or having male yeast infection symptoms. Unfortunately, this circumstance is really more common than men would want to admit.
Male yeast infection symptoms are very much like those of the females, with itching, burning sensations during urination, and a thick whitish discharge that can smell yeasty in severe infections. The tip of the penis itself can become reddish and sore, even developing little blistery spots or dry white patches that, in the words of one gentleman, “Makes me wish it would just fall off!”
Men also don’t like to admit that they’ve been infected with what they consider a “female condition” but this is usually because it’s much harder to detect in men rather than in women. It’s most dangerous in men when they are active sexually, because if their partner has the infection, they pass it along to them. The yeast travels up the exposed urethra and winds up straight in the prostate. The doctor will give a treatment of fungicidal creams to ease the male yeast infection symptoms and it should take about seven days for it to clear up completely. Serious infections may need oral fungicidal medications.
There are not that many men that want to know yeast infection home remedy treatments, but maybe that’s because the male yeast infection symptoms are already quite severe. However, if there are any that are interested in trying them out, antifungal cream mixed with a few drops of distilled white vinegar seems to up the “killing power” of the drug. And while women are not averse to mild vinegar rinses and douches, men definitely do not recommend it. Fresh aloe gel, while not an active antifungal treatment, helps greatly in relieving the itch, especially when chilled in the refrigerator beforehand.
As a reminder, the most dangerous time for a man is when his bedmate develops the infection. That’s the time to keep away until the symptoms clear up completely. Or, the couple will just be playing catch with the yeast spores and the man will definitely not enjoy his male yeast infection symptoms at all.
Some studies have shown that this ups the infection factor for both men and women when combined with lubricants. Keep yourself dry. Jock itch is a form of the infection and the best way to avoid that is to change your shorts when they get wet. Watch your sugar intake – yeast feeds on blood sugar and that gives them the food to go multiply. This doesn’t just mean sweets; alcohol has a high sugar content, too. Be extra careful when you’re sick and taking steroids or antibiotics. These meds mess up your immune system by killing all the bacteria in the body, including the good ones. One doctor recommended taking probiotics during this time to counteract the situation. When men develop male yeast infection symptoms, that a clue that the infection is already serious and an appointment with a physician, preferably a urologist, has to be made immediately.
